Downtown Eateries Emerge

Since the reopening of Fulton Street last year, many restaurateurs have flocked downtown to open second locations of their popular eateries. The corner of Fulton & Mariposa has become the desired lunchtime destination for downtowners. Recently, three new restaurants have made downtown Fresno their new home: La Boulangerie de France, Toshiko Japanese Cuisine, and Cookies N Things.

La Boulangerie de France, a well-known bakery and restaurant in Fig Garden Village just announced their plans to expand into the Pacific Southwest Building towards the end of the year. This location will feature a cafe-style scenery with a walk-up window for ordering and plenty of tables alongside the street to accommodate customers. We’re ready to get our carbo-loading on!

New Advertising Opportunities

Facebook is rolling out a new advertising placement option for businesses and organizations. The widely-used platform confirmed that all businesses are now able to advertise within Stories and through Messenger (coming soon).

“Now you can include Facebook Stories as an additional placement to News Feed or Instagram Stories ad campaigns, delivering your message in a full screen, immersive environment. And soon, you’ll be able to extend the reach and improve the performance of your stories ad campaigns in Messenger too.” – Facebook

The tech company believes that Stories are the future of social sharing and believes that they will take over news feed posts, which is the primary way users interact with others. Currently, 40% of Instagram users check Stories everyday.

Snap It & Buy It

Snapchat and Amazon have combined two of our favorite things; snapping and shopping. The two powerhouse companies have joined forces to roll out a new visual search tool for Snapchat. The new tool will allow users to snap a picture of a product or barcode, then redirect to an Amazon product page where you can see more about the product and make a purchase. On Snapchat’s news blog, the instructions are as follows, “Simply point your Snapchat camera at a physical product or barcode, and press and hold on the camera screen to get started. Once the picture is taken, a user can hold down on the camera screen, and if the product or bar code can be identified, the app will display an Amazon card showing a related product page that can open in Amazon’s app or mobile site.”
