Samsung Photo Glitch

Samsung just gave users another reason to switch over to Apple after their latest malfunction. It has been reported that devices have been sending people’s camera roll photos to contacts WITHOUT permission. Yikes! The worst part you might ask; there is no trace this is happening. You won’t know until one of you friends reveals what has been sent to them. Our advice: start cleaning up your photo library ASAP or follow these simple steps to stop this from happening.

California’s version of GDPR

Big changes are underway for California-housed companies who store large amounts of data. These big companies will now be required to disclose which type of data is collected and allow consumers to opt out of having their information sold. This bill, known as The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, was signed by Gov. Jerry Brown last week.

New Rides in Town

Popular metropolitan areas have already integrated bike-share companies such as CitiBike and GoBike to help people commute around impacted cities easier. Recently, Lyft acquired Motivate, which is one of the largest bike-share companies in the U.S., to carry out their plans of adding bikes to their stock. This is a monumental move for the rideshare company and helps them try to breakaway from their biggest competitor, Uber.

“You’re All Caught Up” + Music Capabilities

PC Chance Miller /9to5mac.com/

Do you ever find yourself scrolling through your Instagram feed to see what you’ve missed after busy day? It may seem like this is continuous and never-ending because of the new algorithm. Luckily, Instagram is now alerting users once they have seen everything they have missed. The new feature,”You’re All Caught Up” is a great addition to the popular platform and can aid in viewership in other areas like stories and content on the explore page. Once you have seen all of your followers’ posts after a two-day span, you will receive the caught up alert at the bottom of your screen.

The second Insta update gives us the ability to add music to photos and videos that are posted in Instagram stories. “Music” mode was introduced earlier last week and people are extremely excited about this new addition.

All you need to do is:

  1. Swipe left at the bottom of your screen to move into music mode
  2. Browse the popular song list or search at the top of the screen
  3. Select your song and add it to your story
  4. Drag the slider to the desired verse and tap and hold the capture button to record the video or snap a photo.

FresGo

PC Sarah Allison

A few years ago, the City of Fresno launched a new mobile app called “FresGO” to help with communication, service, and delivery amongst the people living in this booming city. The all-in-one app helps people to report city issues and requests across all departments with a simple process. If you see a problem, snap a pic and submit the item through the app to receive a tracking number and updates from city hall.

While this app has been available for awhile now, community message boards have recently received an influx of posts and comments showcasing the efficiency of the app when dealing with trash removal, illegal fireworks, and graffiti.

Check out a before and after photo that one Fresno native shared of her success with the app after a street was left with piles of trash after the 4th of July.
